The Tar Heels rolled into Durham and took an early 8-0 lead. The Heels were up by 14 at halftime, but it just was not enough as Duke won 79-73. The Tar Heels dominated inside but Nolan Smith and Seth Curry combined for 56 of Duke's 79 points.
The Tar Heels only hit 2 out of 14 three point attempts. They also missed 9 free throws. The game could have been much different if they had shot a little better.
The Tar Heels also allowed too many offensive rebounds which led to some big buckets. Duke ended up with 15 offensive rebounds which is way too many for North Carolina to give up when they are supposed to dominate inside.
The bench was not much of a factor for the Tar Heels. McDonald did end up with 8 points though.
Marshall had another good game with 6 assists to one turnover. He also had 9 points. Zeller had 14 points and 13 rebounds while Henson added 14 points and 12 rebounds.
It should be another good game on March 5 when these two teams face off again in Chapel Hill.
